Fantasy fiction are usually stories set in a world quite different from our Earth. These stories often include mythical creatures and magical powers. Readers of fantasy fiction can become very passionate about the worlds which have been created. The recent World Fantasy Convention 2008 was held in Calgary, Canada. At the convention, the 2008 World Fantasy Award Winners were announced. The winner of the Novel of the year was Ysabel by Guy Gavriel Kay
Life Achievement awards were presented to the author, Patricia McKillip and to illustrators, Leo & Diane Dillon.
